Setting up your Optimise BP account

 

If you have been given a user code (Auth Code)


To monitor your blood pressure, please set up your account as a “New User” by visiting pt.optbp.com/authcode. Please use the email address your clinician will have used for you and activate your account by using the unique Authorisation Code that was provided to you by your clinician.  Once you are set up, please download 'OptBP' from your App or Play Store. Please login to OptBP the day after you start your medication and whenever prompted to do so.

 

If you have been provided with a self-sign up link


Please click on the self sign up link and then follow the instructions and enter your details to set yourself up with an Optimise BP account, which will then allow you to start monitoring your blood pressure.

 

Please then answer the relevant questions to get you fully set up as a user of Optimise BP.

 


Downloading the Optimise BP App


Once you have answered all the set-up questions, and are logged in, you can download the OptBP app from the Playstore if you are an Android user or the iOS App store if you are an Apple user. The links for download will be provided once you have signed up.

If you have been prescribed new medication, please log in to the app the day after you have started the medication as it will ask you to confirm you have started taking it. Please also login to the app daily at the end of a monitoring cycle to confirm the start of any increase doses recommended.

 

 

Home Screen

 

Key information


Your patient home screen will show key information about your blood pressure (BP) treatment including target blood pressure (My Target), My Last BP, My average BP, as well as when blood tests and your blood pressure monitoring is due as well as when your clinician review is due. You can also click on my treatment for a list of your blood pressure medications.

Notification Bell


This is at the top right of your screen, next to your name.  If there are any notifications from your clinician, the red dot next to the bell will show and the bell will turn gold. Click on the bell to view notifications in a drop down list. Click on ‘View All’ for more detail and mark ‘View as Read’ when read or actioned. Once you have “viewed as read” all the notifications, the bell will turn back to its normal colour and the red dot will disappear.

Entering your BP readings


You do this through the golden heart in the panel on your home screen, which may be on the side or at the bottom of the screen.

Click on it to start. When your blood pressure monitoring becomes due, you will be notified. Please take 2 readings in the morning between 5am and 11am and enter these around the time you take these.  Please taken and enter evening readings between 4pm and 11pm.

 

It is important to have your monitor to hand when you enter as it may ask you to take further readings.

 

 

Blood pressure monitoring due


When this is due, you will be asked to enter readings morning and evening for 7days. It is important that you enter at least 4 days of readings morning and evening on consecutive days. If you are unable to do this, your monitoring cycle will be extended.

 

 

 

Please take your blood pressure and enter your morning readings between 5am and 11am and take your blood pressure and enter your evening readings between 4pm and 11pm.

 


Basic Mode


Basic mode is a default safety setting which requires you to contact your clinician before you can carry on using Optimise BP. Please do contact your surgery when you see this message and speak to your clinician who set you up with an account.

 

Please also liaise with your clinician if you do not have a next monitoring due date that has been set, unless you have not yet confirmed the start of a medication or you are in an Active monitoring cycle.

 

 



Blood tests and medication


Please contact your surgery when you need a blood test to request the relevant form be provided to you, if you don’t already have one. Please also contact the surgery when you need more medication and let them know the name of the medication you are requesting and the current dose.

 

 


Push notifications


It is extremely important to ensure you allow the ‘App’ and/or website to send you push notifications to your phone. Please make sure these are enabled and do not turn them off as this will the app will not be safe without them. 


Without the notifications, you will need to ensure you check the app on a daily basis. If you do have notifications enabled, you should receive key prompts.

 


What to do if you have a problem


If you have a medical problem related to your blood pressure treatment or other issue, please contact the surgery in the usual way.  Optimise BP provides advice and guidance to you as recommended by your GP. If you have any concerns or queries regarding the advice that Optimise BP is providing you with, please always do contact your clinician to discuss your treatment.

 

If you have feedback about the App, please visit  https://optbp.freshdesk.com and raise a ‘New Support Ticket’. Please do not include any sensitive medical information, but please keep the feedback to any issues with the app itself.
